About Alex
As a Licensed Creative Arts Therapist in New York, I specialize in the treatment of people struggling with Eating Disorders and Food-related issues, General Mental Health, Relationship and Life Transitions, and Trauma. As a recovered clinician, I know what it’s like to be on both sides of the table, as well as how rewarding maintaining a recovered life is. I take a warm, empathic and authentic approach with my clients, meeting them where they are on their journey to health and happiness. By using evidence based models including CBT and DBT, along with EMDR and Creative Arts and Relational Interventions, I am able to utilize various techniques to support you in our work together. I also incorporate a spiritual and creative framework into my practice, attuning to the whole self rather than just our individual parts. Through our work together you’ll be empowered with skills and tools to navigate day-to-day challenges, and a space to process and heal.
I received my Masters Degree in Creative Arts Therapy at New York University in 2014 and have worked in Community Mental Health treating adults and adolescents with addictions and mental health diagnoses, Partial Hospitalization Programs for individuals with addiction, psychiatric, and mood disorders, and co-created a residence and treatment-program for cross-addicted women fleeing domestic violence. In addition to my private practice, I’m a therapist at Eating Disorder Recovery Specialists, where we treat individuals with clinical Eating Disorders, and those who struggle with compulsive eating, dieting, and body image issues in every stage of their recovery.
Along with practicing psychotherapy, I am passionate about coaching and supporting the loved ones of those affected by Addictions and Eating Disorders. Being the parent, child, or spouse of someone with an active addiction requires both compassion and the ability to practice self-care and boundary- setting. It can feel overwhelming and confusing watching your loved one navigate their recovery journey; I can teach you the tools to support yourself in the process.
I’d love to be part of your journey on the road to recovery and freedom. Please contact me for your free 15-minute consultation call to see if we’d be a good fit to work together.
